About the Journal

Founded as the publishing arm of the Institute for Research for Social Justice in Action (IRSJA), The Journal of Social Justice in Action exists to transform who holds the mic in academia. We publish autoethnographies, policy reflections, community case studies, creative resistance pieces, and frontline research led by people doing the work.

We believe:

• Lived experience is expertise
• Healing is a research method
• The margins are where innovation is born

Each issue is thematic and intentionally curated to reflect movements in motion — from credible messenger-led violence prevention programs to youth mental health interventions, to trauma-informed leadership strategies.
